Cooking Experience for Corporate Team: Southern Charter

By Nicole Neethling  |  14 November 2025

When I hear that the clients for my Team Building experience will be a mix of Jhb and Cape Town corporates, I feel proud to introduce them to the beautiful countryside of the Swartland. While setting up the cooking stations at Kloovenberg Wine Farm’s Kringe in die Bos, I even practised my “Welcome to the Country” greeting.

My excitement was not wasted on Sebastian and his team from Southern Charter. From the moment they walked up the gravel path through the trees, I saw the wonder in their eyes. They were taken by the Natural beauty of the Riebeek Valley, and not even the heat got them down. Learning that they were going to be the chefs of the day, and would be learning an authentic 3-course meal, brought cheers all around.

This group of investors were game to get their hands dirty, folding samooses and cutting up ingredients for the curry  like pros. The whole team totally immersed themselves into the experience, and I got to enjoy many humourous situations and dialogue with each one.

One of the highlights of this event was when I asked the group to take their seats for a few minutes,

so I could share my story with them, they all said, “what about the pots?” They all opted to stand around their pots instead – this is the when the main photo here was taken.

I couldn’t help but laugh along with them, at their dedication to their pots. But in that moment, I knew that if they were my investors, my money would be safe in their hands. It was a hilarious moment that gave me a wonderful insight to this group.

My hope for this team was inspired by something I read in Siya Kolisi’s book Rise where in training, players were taught, that in the game, you keep moving forward, and you don’t dwell on your past mistakes. If you missed the ball, go hard for the tackle. If you missed the tackle, give your all in the mall. Keep going forward! Like we say at Flour & Oil, Make Every Interaction Matter. I really trust that as individuals and as a team, you will keep moving forward!

Thank you team, I so enjoyed our time together. I hope you enjoy your gift bags!

” Our SC Team building was the perfect blend of fun, learning, and delicious food! Nicole’s spice tips were so insightful — every samoosa and curry we make will forever remind us of you. Your bubbly personality speaks volumes, and sharing your story brought hope and motivation to us all. Thank you for a truly memorable and beautiful day! “
