Creating Memorable Ladies' Events: Tips and Inspirations
Whenever I receive a message from Renee van Zyl, from Rooms with a View in Vredendal, I know something amazing is brewing.
Renee has invited me and my family twice before to do our food experiences at her breathtaking venue. Not only does she invite the best guests, but she goes out of her way to create the most luxurious experience we have ever had.Â
This time her idea was no less inspiring, which was to have a Ladies’ morning with the theme ‘Voluit vrou wees” (Live out your Womanhood). Her decorations were fit for a wedding. Her sweet table was decked out with homemade brownies, quiches and of course… a 5-layer candyfloss cake!!
As one of the speakers, I had the opportunity to perform a a demo using one of my premixes (the “Curry”). While the pot was simmering, I had time to share a message. I began by asking; if you knew my premixed spices would result in the best curry you had ever tasted, would it effect the way you cooked using it?
Would you pour yourself a glass of wine while your favourite music played, cut those onions in style, and fling a dishcloth over yout shoulder as if you were Jamie Oliver (who I love by the way)?Â
Would it be different, if you knew that the premix was going to result in a terrible waste of lamb, but you still had to use it anyway? I surmised that there might be moaning and irritation through the whole process.Â
This led to a more thought-provoking question: would it make a difference to how you lived if you had a fantastic view of your future? Compared to having one where you knew that the whole world was going to get worse and worse.Â
The declaration that Jesus made was that we are the light of the world. The only way the world gets dark is if we are hidden. And as a nation that has gone through enough load shedding, we know that you do not light a camping light and put it on the floor. You put it in the highest place in the room. So too, we as believers are to shine our light to the whole world, so they there is light, hope, healing, fruitfulness, joy and all things in heaven, wherever we are.Â
Our ability to see a future where we make a difference in the world, shapes the way we live every day, and how we interact with every person.
The guests were able to practice a few ways of being the light. The joy and energy of the room lifted in bounds.Â
